Choir Audition

Hello, welcome to my blog! First, let me introduce myself, my name is Andra. In this blog, I will share my story about attending a choir audition with my friends. I hope this story motivates you, to always be well prepared when do something.

This story started when me and my friends saw the choir audition announcement at the school. After seeing the announcement we talked about it and we wanted to attend the audition. To be honest, we had no clue what we needed to do in the audition. So we asked our friend who has been a part of  the choir. She said, we should prepare a song and we have to sing the song on the audition day. So all of us choose a traditional Indonesian Song. I choose “Rayuan Pulau Kelapa” as my audition song. We practiced a lot to improve our singing. We gave each other feedback so we could evaluate our mistakes.

The audition day was come. We went to the audition place and we were shocked and nervous. Because there were many ‘rivals’ and we were afraid we could not get accepted to the choir. The choir teacher went to the “waiting hall” and called us one by one to the audition room.

It was my turn, i went to the audition room. I was so nervous. The teacher noticed and he told me to be more confident. After, calmed down myself. He allowed me to sing any song. Thank God I already prepared so I can do the instruction without any resistance. I think I did a good job. Then, the teacher tested my vocal range. He was impressed with my low vocal range. He gave me a green flag! He asked me, what vocal position I more comfortable with. To be honest, I prefer the low vocal range position because I think it will be more easy and fun to sing with it. And I went back home without regret.

One week after the audition day, the result was announced. Me and my friends checked the choir audition announcement together. I was so happy because I got accepted to the choir, but I felt sad because all my friends go rejected. They were disappointed and one of my friends said. She was disappointed because she was not well prepared for the audition test and she made mistaked. I tried to comfort my friends and encourage them to practice their vocals so they could be prepared for the next audition.

I told them about my preparation for the audition. They were curious so I shared with them. So this is my preparation for the audition: I practiced my vocal every possible time because practicing vocals was very easy. Because to vocalizing we do not need to use any equipment, just use your voices. I told them to join a choir outside the school. Because based on my experiences (I joined a church choir) join a choir improves your vocal because you can got some advices from other people and professionasl. After hearing my story, they said they were inspired to be more frequently practiced. 

To be honest I felt happy because I could inspired my friends. Until right now, my friends practiced a lot after hearing my advices. I hope you guys got inspired after hearing my story. Do you best while you can! Thank you guys!
